The National Parks of California

California is home to nine stunning national parks, each offering unique landscapes and experiences. This is the most of any other state, second being Alaska with 8. These parks span from top to bottom of the entire state of California. The goal for this project was to visit all of them in the course of one year. This can be rather tricky given that several of them are closed throughout winter and well into spring. The criteria was simple; visit each park during the year 2024, complete at least one hike in the park, and take at least one photo to document the series.

The photos appear in the order of which the parks were visited. Death Valley being the first, and Pinnacles being the last. Each photo captures the essence of the park it represents. From the arid desert landscapes of Death Valley to the towering redwoods of Redwoods National Park, each image tells a story of the diverse beauty found within California's borders.

The goal is to continue with this photo series with each of the states. Obviously some are harder than others, such as Alaska since many of its national parks are only accessible by plane and in the Summer. Other states such as Utah with "The Mighty 5" present their own challenges, but also incredible landscapes to explore. Documenting the beauty of this country comes at a price, whether it is airfare, gas and time spent in the car, or a physical tax such as embracing the elements of the Winter, this is something I am willing to embrace to experience these natural beauties.
